Overview

WISCA (Waiheke Island Society for the Care of Animals) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing help and support to the animals, people and community of Waiheke Island.

They were originally known as Waiheke SPCA, part of the RNZSPCA organisation until they campaigned and won in 2017 to be renamed WISCA.

WISCA has been providing help and support for Waiheke animals and our community for over 50 years.

WISCA provides a range of services to the island’s animals, including household pets, ducks, geese and roosters. Providing welfare and rescue services, adoption and fostering, desexing and microchipping.

Every year Wisca works with vets on Waiheke to desex any cat/kitten for free from Waiheke households to help prevent homeless/stray cats roaming Waiheke.

Also helping feed ducks/roosters and geese on Waiheke with the help of the Waiheke community.

Wisca also owns and runs a very popular op shop on the island full of clothing, footwear, toys, books, electrical goods and much more. Generously donated by the Waiheke locals, which is popular for locals and visitors, all proceeds go towards the animals and the community on waiheke.
