Overview
Waiheke Dump or Waiheke Tip, full name Waiheke Community Resource Recovery Park. But I’m sure if you asked 50 locals on the street the name of it only a few would get it right. So for now we are just calling it the dump. Even though they offer more features than just dumping of waste.
They also have a timber yard that stock a range of building and household products you can buy for a few dollars.
What can you dump
- They have recycling of glass separated into many colours like brown, green and clear glass.
- They have bins laid out for cardboard, this has to be flattened before its dumped.
- They have a few buckets for recycling old batteries, like AA, AAA, Phone batteries and more.
- Inside you have landfill waste, building and steel waste that can be recycled.
- The back corner you have plant waste, most plants and branches under 100mm, no roots/dirt.
There also is a after hours area 4.30pm-8am daily, where you can bin recycled products and red/orange bags in the preferred bins, this is found at the end closer to the container yard.
Note : Waiheke Dump is cash free, due to being operated by Auckland Council. But their timber yard and yard sales accepts cash or card due to being controlled by Island Waste Collective.
