Overview

Picnic bay and Beach is Waiheke’s small well kept secret on the eastern shore of Huruhi bay.

You can enjoy relaxing/private swimming at all tides, or even jump off the moored pontoon in the bay.

Picnic Bay beach is made of beautiful white crushed shell and sand.

The Beach has a large grass reserve above picnic bay beach with a picnic table perfect for family/friend gatherings overlooking the breathtaking views of the bay/ you may even spot our Sea link ferry.

There are no bins or toilets (Closest toilet is by Kennedy Point carpark) so please take rubbish with you.

Key Access Points

From Esslin road

Turning off on to Esslin road from Donald Bruce road either direction, you will come across the grass reserve, you can park on Esslin road street, and the take a short walk to the set of steps that will lead you to our beautiful picnic bay.

Wheelchair Access

Picnic bay has a set of steps at the top of the beach, so that would be hard for a wheelchair, but there is nice grass reserve above the beach to take in all the views.

If you need beach items on your stay at Waiheke, there is a local hire shop called Gear Grab, they have a range of beach items, like sea scooters, metal detectors, beach speakers, sea biscuits, beach tents and games starting at a price of $5 for the smaller toys.
