It is protected by most winds, being quite a sheltered bay, boats like to hang in the bay for the night.
It is perfect to give dogs much needed exercise with a massive grass reserve to chuck the ball around.
There is a coastal walking track called Matietie walk that will either take you to Delamore Drive or Owhanake bay, it can also take you to Matiatia ferry Terminal.
