Mia Yeast is a German style bread baker located in Onetangi in a hidden complex on Totara Avenue. They bake delicious, organic, handmade, German style bread and assorted pastries.

Mia Yeast’s bakers are Waiheke locals Susann and Jan, Susann was raised in Germany and grew a huge passion for organic food by her mother and grandmother ‘Mia’ which had a remarkable influence on how Susann bakes today. They opened Mia yeast for locals and visitors to experience the delicious German style bread they grew up with.

“Mia Yeast” reveals their German origins and background.

The ingredients are exclusively organic and many of them are Demeter and Bio-gro certified and most importantly made in New Zealand.

They are only open two days a week but fear not bread lovers, you can find them at the Ostend Market either outside or inside the hall every Saturday.

Or to get your bread fix you can place a booking online so you don’t miss out.

They are now offering catering options and you can make custom orders for special occasions. Whether its their infamous Black Forest Cake, Apple Strudel or gorgeous Frangipani Crumble, a batch of artisan bread, burger buns or pastries, They can cater to all your group events with fresh and tasty delights.

Wheelchairs should be able access the shop without too many problems, they have a ramp leading onto their deck and entrance to the bakery.
