Overview
Gear Grab is a hire shop on Waiheke, we have a huge range of everyday gear, something for everyone. Plus we are always upgrading and adding awesome new items to our stock.
It is our brand new business that opened in May 2024 it was created by me (Jordan) and my husband Justin on the Island. Being locals we know the struggle it is to not be able to do everyday tasks without having to wait for purchased items to arrive on the island, Only need the item to use once or even just have something unique to do on the island during visits in summer.
Gear grab started as an idea by my husband and then eventually became a reality.
Our store consists of party, gaming, outdoors, household, tech and more.
Hire prices are unbeatable and affordable for everyone.
Its is 18+ to hire and license required. We are also open 7 days a week.
If you are on the island for a holiday or just needing to get your property in order Gear grab is the place to go.

Access Information
- Smaller Car – Ostend towards Surfdale
- Wheelchair – Bottom of hill flat carpark
- Truck/Boat – Oneroa towards Surfdale
- Bike – Any direction fine
- Walking – Any direction fine
The best way to access parking to Gear Grab would be coming from Ostend to Surfdale, that way you can pull into one of the eight diagonal parks, this way you don’t need to cross the road to get into the shop.
If you are a long vehicle or have a boat and want to pick up a big hire item, you would be best to access from Oneroa to Surfdale, as on the other side of the road there is a triple length carpark that is commonly empty, if that carpark is full, there is a side road right opposite Gear grab that has some side of the road parking within 50m.

You also have a Public toilet about 50m down the hill on the corner, it’s a big stainless-steel pod.
