Overview

Enclosure bay is a small bay sheltered/enclosed by large rocks, giving its own unique feature to Waiheke Island.

It is a perfect spot to do safe snorkeling, it can also be popular for learning to scuba dive due to its small channel path that leads out to the deep waters. Children can also take a swim without waves crashing over them, fishing off the rocks is also popular.

Parking is right by the beach side so it is easily accessible, it can be popular in warmer months so parking can be slim.

Key Access Points

From Coromandel Road

Coming from Hauraki road (Oneroa) take a left onto karaka road, another left onto coromandel road follow the windy road until you reach the bottom of coromandel road turn right onto great barrier road follow the road which will lead you to Enclosure bay.

From Great barrier Road

Coming from Cory road/Hauraki road (Palm beach/Ostend) take a right onto coromandel road, a tight right onto great barrier road, follow the windy road to the end you will come across our beautiful Enclosure bay,

From Great barrier road walkway path

Coming from Hauraki road take a left or right dependent on direction on to coromandel road and a right down great barrier road at the start on your left you will come across a sign leading you to a path/ follow the bush like path it will take you down to a unsealed road called Empire Ave follow this you will see Enclosure bay up a head.

Wheelchair Access

Enclosure bay is made of rocks and shell so it isn’t for a wheelchair, but there is a nice grass frontage at the edge of the beach and a nice area with a picnic table to take in the beach.

Sandy bay – located on the northside of Waiheke, with its beautiful white sand and crystal blue water it is definitely a favourite place to just relax and enjoy the sun or take the kayak or paddle board out for a spin.

Hekerua Bay – A little hidden beach near by sandy bay that is only accessed by foot or via boat, at high tide you can see all the seafloor due to its clear blue water.

Palm Beach – Palm Beach with its beautiful white sand and Palm trees surrounding the beach it makes you feel like you are in the tropics. Perfect beach for tanning/swimming.

Little Palm Beach – Also known as Nudie Bay given that name for a certain reason, you guessed it, it is the only beach on Waiheke were you can let everything hang out and swim.
