Waiheke has many beaches and bays located all around the Island. You will not go with out a ocean swim on waiheke, there are plenty to choose from Quiet or Busy/Popular.

Quiet Bays are perfect for just a picnic or to take a quick dip. These bays are Rocky Bay/Kuakarau Bay, Hekerua Bay, Owhanake Bay, Picnic Bay, Shelly Beach, Dead Dog Bay and Pearl Bay that’s only a few there are many more. Some of these bays are either tidal bays or have a small walk to access.

Popular beaches/ Bays on Waiheke are Palm beach, Onetangi beach, Oneroa beach, Little Oneroa beach and Enclosure Bay these beaches are perfect to socialise, some of these beaches are in close proximity to food establishments.

All beaches and bays have all their own special characteristics no beach is the same Sand, rock, shell, tidal, tropical and surf.

Onetangi Beach

Onetangi beach is Waiheke’s longest beach being over 2kms of beautiful white sand it is certainly a must visit. It is popular for surfing, swimming and just relaxing.

Hekerua Bay

Hekerua Bay is a little hidden beach near by sandy bay that is only accessed by foot or via boat, at high tide you can see all the seafloor due to its clear blue water.

Owhanake Bay

Owhanake Bay is a private little gem, it is usually very quiet and peaceful unlike other Waiheke beaches, which is perfect to just take some time for yourself.

Oneroa Beach

Oneroa Beach

Oneroa Beach also known as Big Oneroa, is one of the main beaches in Oneroa, it is situated walking distance from Oneroa village which is where you will find plenty of shops.

Sandy Bay

Sandy Bay is located on the northside of Waiheke, with its beautiful white sand and crystal blue water it is definitely a favourite place to just relax and enjoy the sun.

Picnic bay and Beach is a small well kept secret on the eastern shore of Huruhi bay. You can enjoy relaxing/private swimming at all tides. With a moored pontoon.
