Overview
Indy’s Curry Pot is the only Sri Lankan Takeaway/Catering service on the island it is located on Erua road. They serve authentic Sri Lankan dishes full of fresh and local ingredients.
Proud owner and Chef is Indy himself, born and raised in Sri lanka he was always inspired and passionate about food. Especially because of his biggest inspiration his mums home cooked meals, with the culture in sri lanka men/ boys are not allowed in the kitchen. Which that life made it difficult to learn so he made the difficult decision to move overseas and follow his dreams.
He joined a culinary school for two years and graduated he travelled to Norway and back to Sri Lanka before landing in New Zealand which was certainly scary for him not knowing anyone. Between 2013 – 2015 he attended culinary school in Auckland and worked in various restaurants to gain experience with different cuisines.
And then after a day visit to Waiheke with a family member visiting from Norway he fell in love with our beautiful island and months later called it Home, working at some of our top restaurants from The Mudbrick, Casita Miro and then Te motu and a bit of a push from a local chef he started his Indy’s Curry Pot Career it wasn’t easy at first starting out in a hired kitchen trailer and then a food truck to having his own building which is where he is located today.
You will also find him and his delicious Sri Lankan meals at events and night markets and Waiheke Locals LOVE IT. You can book Indy’s curry pot for any function he and his team can cater for up to 120 ppl.
