Overview
The Hoporata Quarry is the only Quarry on Waiheke that I know of, they blast and excavate the side of the hill to get more brown/red rock in many sizes. They also have screeding equipment. You can buy a range of rocks from gap40 all the way up to boulders.
To visit the yard you have to have covered shoes, Hi Vis vest and a hard hat. From memory the Hi Vis vest and hard hat can be supplied by the quarry at the entrance office.

The best way to access Quarry would be coming from Ostend towards Onetangi, that way you can pull off right into their driveway. If you are coming from Onetangi you will have to cross 60kmph oncoming traffic with limited visibility.
To get to the Quarry you drive up a big driveway, once you get to the top there is plenty of parking for cars/trucks around the yard.

Close To Hoporata Quarry
Onetangi Beach – Waiheke’s longest beach being over 2kms of beautiful white sand it is certainly a must visit. It is popular for surfing, swimming and just relaxing.
Onetangi Sports Park – Onetangi Sports Park is a huge park that is 1000s of acres, The park has a wide range of supported sports and amenities. Each key Sport will have its own page.
