Overview

Waiheke Cemetery is the main public cemetery on the Island. Plots have a wide range of costs depending on size, location and availability. There is also a large section reserved for veterans our fallen soldiers.

Waiheke cemetery is also known as waiheke/Onetangi lawn cemetery is owned and maintained by Auckland Council.

The first burial took place in 1949 and the cemetery is still operational.

The cemetery provides burial plots in a single berm area; each plot measures 1.2 x 2.4 metres and may be dug extra depth to allow for a second burial. There is no pre-purchasing of plots and due to the small size of the cemetery a burial will take place in the next new plot available.

The cemetery currently has an area set aside for ash interments and baby burials. The cemetery also has Returned Services burial and ash interment areas.

The Cemetery is open to the public so you can pay respects and be with your loved ones as you feel free.
