Coastguard Waiheke Island is a local emergency service that goes to many boat related callouts, this can be anything from your boat is stuck on a sandbar, drifting on the anchor and wont start, wont start in general, needing a tow back. Other callouts can be storm related issues and medical emergencies.
Waiheke Coastguard is a volunteer service and they rely on donations to operate. You can also have a membership that gives you some perks, the main one being free assistance 24/7 nation wide.
Coastguard Waiheke was formed in 1990 as a response to growing concern over marine related accidents and mishaps around Waiheke Island, some of which ended tragically.
